Museum of Old Crafts
In the fifteenth-century basement of Palazzo Mercuri, the artisan workshops that are part of local history have been reconstructed. Crafts that elevated this village to a productive and “industrial” centre when the economy of the surrounding area was still based on agriculture.
Immersed in the stimulating environment of a small Apennine town but always in contact with the rest of Italy and the world, the most ingenious men found fertile ground to root and promote their professions, giving great prestige to the entire town. The museum therefore contains the long Vadese artisan tradition by reconstructing the environments in which cabinetmakers, dyers, saddlers, nailers, and many other craftsmen carried out their work, often with very particular and “home-made” tools.
