House of Writing

The House of Writing is a multifunctional space that welcomes the work of professionals within an apparatus for producing and sharing works of genius, through co-working sessions, artistic events and many other initiatives of socio-cultural value. This is the first prototype of the socio-cultural project La Casa della Scrittura, a project conceived by Daniele Aluigi and Antonio Gabbiani and created in collaboration with Libraria, Il Palcoscenico del Libro, in which study and research sessions, presentations, public readings and all kinds of cultural activities are held, aimed at professionals in the sector but also at simple enthusiasts who want to delve deeper into the topic of writing (and reading), with the aim of making their experiences and their ideas available to promote and enhance culture in its many forms.

Inside, there is also a photographic exhibition on the life and work of the charcoal burners (carbonai), with photographic material by Tonino Mosconi, dedicated to the ancient profession widely practiced in the area, retracing the various phases that lead to the production of charcoal.

Along the valley that leads to the hamlet of Parchiule, there are still families today who lovingly preserve the art of making charcoal. An activity that is disappearing and that is passed down only thanks to the experience and wisdom of the old coalmen: the process is long and tiring. In fact, about fifteen days are needed between the preparation of the pile (the cotta), and the burning of the wood.

Attached to the House of Writing, there is the Museum of Writing, a place that intends to pay homage to and pass on the genres of writing and their editorial declinations, offering an interesting exhibition space divided into two levels: visual, with works on paper on display, and auditory, with audiobooks, i.e. volumes and/or literary texts, read by nationally and internationally known actors. A space capable of both celebrating great literature and, at the same time, musealizing its various expressions and applications in a completely original way: what is fixed are not so much the physical works themselves, but the intellectual wealth they represent.
